What is Chekhov's DAO?
Chekhov's DAO is a small and relaxed decentralized autonomous organization that aims to create a community-driven anthology of short short stories (< 3000 words each). Each member can submit their own story, vote on decisions regarding the book's assembly and publishing, and influence how the funds are spent. This project is for anyone of any writing level.
Project Overview
The DAO will effectively function as a writer's guild, for both novice/hobbyist and experienced writers, with members collaboratively publishing a book of short (technically, short short) stories. No talent gatekeeping here! Members will guide the process on things such as cover art and where and when to publish. Bring a story you already wrote or start writing a new one!
How will this happen? To be a DAO member, you must purchase the appropriate Chekhov's DAO ticket. The ticket is a non-fungible token (NFT) that allows the bearer membership rights. The money collected from token sales goes into the DAO treasury.

This is not a contest! As an NFT holder, you will be allowed to include your short story in the book as long as you adhere to DAO rules and timelines. Proceeds from the NFT sales go into the DAO treasury and will fund publishing costs and potentially marketing or other community-driven initiatives as decided by the voters.

Launch Details
The project is in the start-up phase. Discussion and governance will take place in the Chekhov's DAO discord. Join, no obligations, to see if this is for you. The NFT will be very limited, probably 30 NFTs or so, since each approximately 3,000 word short story would then add up to 90,000 words for the book. That's about the maximum size we'd want to self-publish.
The funds from NFT sales go into the treasury where we will vote on how to use them. We anticipate an NFT price around 0.05 ETH (roughly $100 at the time this was written), but that is being decided based on how much we think it will cost to get through the entire process. Of course, these are DAO decisions and any extra money would get returned to the NFT holders.
